Richard Butcher, spent much of his formative years studying drama and it was when the local theatre in which he was working needed front-of-house photographs he put aside his love of the theatre and nurtured his love of the photographic medium to express his creativity. After critical acclaim for his work, in 1988 he was offered a position on a newspaper and so joined the infamous paparazzi. In 1990 having worked through to become a senior photographer he moved into studio photography, covering many disciplines from location photography, commercial, still life, fashion and portraiture for a major book publishers, photographing the likes of James Herbert and Steven King.
Having lived and worked stateside for 3 years for the likes of Sears, the Disney Corporation and Costa Crociere Cruiselines he married and came back to his roots in the UK and with a technological eye on the commercial side of photography he started what is now ‘Studio 4’, a digital photographic studio in Uxbridge working in conjunction with a digital reprographic company. His clients have grown from humble beginnings to major blue-chip organisations such as Wickes, Hasbro, Anheuser-Busch, Heinz and Pernod Ricard.
