Cracknell

Mizuno is proud to announce that they will be partnering with James Cracknell in his bid to row the 2019 Boat Race whilst he studies for his MPhil at the University of Cambridge. If successful James would become the oldest rower to ever compete in the Boat Race, beating the previous record by ten years.

Best known as double rowing Olympic gold medalist in 2000 & 2004, James has further accomplished a number of other extraordinary feats - the Amundsen Omega3 South Pole Race, rowing across the Atlantic Ocean and trekking across the Arabian Desert to name a few.

James also hugely impressed in his transition to running - in 2010 he became the highest placed Briton ever in the gruelling Marathon des Sables. But it was his performance in the 2017 London Marathon that had the running community really talking - a perfectly paced race saw him smash his previous best and set a new PB of 2:43:12. A phenomenal time and one achieved running in Mizuno running footwear.

Mizuno are delighted to support James in his latest challenge and to do so they created a bespoke ‘JC’ range of technical rowing gear, as pictured, to aid James in his training both on and off water. The kit acknowledges James' formative influence in the sport of rowing - red representing his school Kingston Grammar and the pink 'JC & Oars' logo representing his boat club Leander. #ReachBeyond
