Since I purchased my Mavic 2 Pro and I have been publishing some drone footage on YouTube, I felt it was important to put together a small introduction video which gave the viewer an idea of what it was I was using to create the footage they were watching.

So I took the drone into the studio and filmed it. I edited the footage in Final Cut Pro and the music was from Artlist.

The Mavic 2 Pro by DJI, is, not only a great and powerful drone for film making, but it looks pretty good too especially when put under studio lighting. I lit the Drone with Aputure and Godox lights and used my knowledge as a studio product photographer to get the best out of the lighting.

To film a product, it relies heavily on some additional equipment to bring it to life so alongside the lighting I used a slider and turntable to help get the shots I needed. I used an Edelkrone Slider One V2 which allows the camera to pan across the product which gives a really nice parallax effect and coupled with a Syrp Turntable and Genie Mini to rotate the product it allows for some really smooth product shots which really show the drone off to its best!

So in post production I added some light colour grading, it shouldn’t need a great deal as the light was reasonably consistent. but I do use mFilmLook by Motion VFX which is an all-in-one plug-in to add that professional look to your video. In mFilmLook I colour graded, added vignette, grain, light flares and letterbox effects to polish it. The heads-up display is achieved using another Motion VFX Plug in called mHud 2 which also has a built in Mocha tracker allowing some complicated frame-by-frame 3D object tracking.
